Situation
We worked with a leading healthcare company that implemented an enterprise-wide Web publishing tool. When the company launched its Internet and Intranet sites in 1994, relatively few standards existed, which resulted in a proliferation of internal and external websites. In addition, the company's Web content sat on many different servers in many different locations. The result was a content creation environment where there was very little understanding, from an enterprise-wide level, of how much content that actually existed, who the Web publishers were, how many sites there were, or how and by whom sites were being used. An enterprise-wide Web publishing tool was launched to help teams build and manage Web sites more efficiently.

Solution
A global communication plan was developed to increase awareness and acceptance of the tool, reduce the uncertainty of learning and adapting to the new content management system, inform the community about migration progress, and effectively communicate the tool's capabilities and advantages.

Results We created, developed
and implemented a global communication plan, communicating project
status and activities to 1,000 Web publishers, 500 site owners,
and 48,000 general employees:
- Led Web content management team in communicating processes supporting
roll out of enterprise wide Web publishing tool, completing on
time and within budget, project valued at $1.2 million
- Facilitated orientation sessions to introduce Web publishers,
site owners and business sponsors to the content migration process,
funneling 500 internal clients into the process
- Provided ongoing communications to business site owners, Web
publishers and employees, highlighting project status and migration
successes
